Last week we were able to play our first show at Urbana’s Canopy Club. It was an exercise in flexibility (good for Katherine, especially) and extroversion as we were the headliners and largely responsible for promoting the show. So, Jaron and Max and our buddy Brent hit the streets of CU with our new EP in hand, giving out copies to promote the show. Folks were friendly and gracious for the most part and we were able to get about 200 copies off our hands in all. And, if you haven’t seen it, our friend Steven made pretty much the coolest show flyer in history. You may be seeing this space reindeer on more merch soon.
The show was fantastic, largely due to the acts that joined us, You & Yourn and Common Loon. You can catch both of these duos at Pygmalion this fall.
September will be a full month for the band - playing WEFT sessions live from 10-11pm on Monday September 7th. You can listen on 90.1 fm in Champaign, IL or online at weft.org . Click on “listen online!” We then head to St. Louis for the Play: STL festival. Our set is Saturday night September 19, 7pm at Racanelli’s.
September 25th (Friday) we’ll be in Cincinnati for the Midpoint festival, playing in the Segway room at 11pm with such prodigious acts as The Super Desserts and Wake the Bear.
In sadder news, we will be catching a flight from Cincinnati immediately after our show to attend and play at a memorial service and reception for our dear friend, Peter Reeves. We love you, Peter.
